wHO is chatr?

Chatr was born from a desire to expand on the exceptional work of our sister company, Grassroots Projects; a 100% First Nations owned and operated entity.

Chatr is a heart-centred business focused on supporting our clients as they walk through their healing journey. We provide evidence-based, trauma informed care that puts the person as the centre of their journey and works to build strong foundations. To change someone’s mindset you must help them change their situation. This is where our action-focused service delivery steps in. Our clinicians are driven by a genuine desire to see our clients become the best versions of themselves and to move from surviving to thriving. A core pillar of our business is the need for our impact to live on beyond our sessions and to create lasting change; not just for our clients but also their families and generations to come.

Our clinicians are qualified and registered Allied Health Professionals. We hand-pick our team in collaboration with providers, putting your needs and the needs of your caseloads at the centre of our recruitment process.

Our team comprises experts across a range of fields, including substance dependence and addictive behaviours, homelessness, CALD servicing etc. We provide a responsive service that tailors and adapts to your needs and shys away from rigid diaries and processes that inhibit innovation and genuine local solutions.

OUR services

We provide individual and group programs tailored to the specific needs of providers and their cohorts. We thrive in collaboration and will work closely with you to create innovative, bespoke solutions that create lasting change for your participants. We firmly believe that to change someone's mindset, you must also pay attention to their situation. Our clinicians are well practised in providing action focused, evidence-based, trauma informed care that puts the participant at the centre of their healing journey.

Working closely with providers, we establish your specific clinical need and tailor our recruitment to sourcing clinicians with the required experience and qualifications to meet that need. This has seen us source specialist clinicians across fields such as CALD servicing, substance dependency and ex-offender. Our clinicians meet with clients both one-on-one and in group settings - with face to face support the preference where possible. While we maintain the capacity for virtual servicing, our commitment to you and your caseload is to provide a physical presence whenever possible and when it best supports the individual.

Chatr clinicians work across a range of supports including, but not limited to:

Individual Support: Utilising action focused, evidence-based, trauma informed care, our clinicians work with clients one-on-one to identify and support treatment of the core foundational barriers impacting their lives and reducing their capacity to find and maintain employment. We firmly believe that the right intervention at the wrong time is still the wrong intervention, and our expertly trained clinicians conduct strong initial assessments used to better time interventions and create lasting change.

Crisis Support: Our clinicians are well versed in providing immediate support and advocacy to clients facing immediate crisis. Where face to face support is not available, our (nearly) nation-wide network has virtual support on-hand to provide immediate interventions.

Practical Supports: Our social workers are on-hand to support participants in developing genuine plans across areas such as housing and family. Utilizing our connections with local housing authorities and relevant politicians, our clinicians have so far supported over 20 participants to gain permanent housing in the last 6 months.

Group Programs: Our group programs are bespoke and tailored to meet your needs as a provider. We are led by you and offer various 'modules' that can be combined to create your own genuinely tailored course.

Family & domestic violence

1 in 4 Women

Nearly 1 in 4 Australian women have endured violence at the hands of an intimate partner. This isn't just a statistic— it represents the deep scars, both physical and emotional, that countless women carry. For many, the home, which should be a place of safety, becomes a battleground, often leading to the devastating decision to flee, with many ending up homeless. The trauma of domestic violence leaves long-lasting impacts on individuals and families, making it imperative to provide robust support and safe havens for those affected.

Substance use

1 in 6 Australians

Approximately 1 in 6 Australians have used an illicit drug in the past year. Substance use doesn't just disrupt lives; it can destroy them, leading to a cycle of addiction, health deterioration, and the breakdown of personal relationships. The statistics reveal a harsh reality where too many Australians are caught in the grip of substances that not only threaten their health but also rob them of their potential. Tackling substance use head-on with effective treatment and support is essential to giving people back control of their lives.

122, 000 Australians

homelessness

On any given night, over 122,000 Australians are without a home. This number includes those sleeping on the streets, in temporary shelters, or in overcrowded conditions. Homelessness strips individuals of their dignity, safety, and the basic comfort of a stable place to live. It is a stark reminder of the systemic issues in our society, from housing affordability to social support inadequacies. These are not just statistics—they represent real people facing the harshest realities, and it is a call to action to ensure every Australian has a place to call home.
